STEM Early College at N.C. A&T

The STEM Early College at North Carolina A&T State University celebrates its ninth year and its sixth senior class this year.

Rich in diverse cultures, perspectives, and ideas, the STEM Early College employs a real-world and problem-based method to help students develop critical and unique thinking skills. A key point of the STEM experience is participation in the Capstone research project during the freshman and sophomore years. Students engage in the engineering design process to develop and test different ideas and solutions to problems facing engineers in today's world. It is a particular focus at STEM to look at sustainability.

STEM is helmed by Jamisa Williams, in her sixth year as principal. With a small staff of eight teachers, a counselor, curriculum facilitator, instructional technology facilitator/career development coordinator, and school data manager/treasurer, life at STEM becomes close-knit. The STEM experience is to have each teacher and staff member in the school committed to student success.

The main office is located on the first floor of the School of Technology building in Smith Hall on the beautiful campus of North Carolina A&T State University. Classrooms are located on the first floor of Smith Hall and the first floor of nearby Price Hall. STEM operates during the hours of 9:00am until 4:30pm Monday through Friday.
