High school students across the country, working towards their high school diploma, are continuing to study partially, if not fully, online this semester as COVID-19 continues. Check out these quick five tips for learning online that you cannot miss!
1. Check your email every day!
This is absolutely critical. Many important online communication announcements will be made through virtually through emails. You can expect to receive announcements and instructions from your teachers and high school through email. Check, check, check your email at least once a day to make sure you are on top of everything. In fact, consider making sure you receive notifications on your mobile phone whenever you receive an email. This way, you can see right away if you’ve received anything important!
2. Dedicate time and space to your online learning.
Set healthy boundaries around your school time. Block off a time frame for your textbook reading, a time to listen to lectures, and a time to write assignments for each class. Now here comes the hard part: Stick to it. Let your family and friends know when you will be in the zone and need to concentrate.3. Engage actively with your online community and online peers.
Learning independently from home does not mean that you have to learn alone. Reach out to your online classmates and for a community with them.Take the time to meaningfully respond to your online classmates in the online discussion forums that your online classes have set up. Reach out to your online professor when you find that you are struggling with a specific concept or idea. Share what you have learned with your family and friends.
