    How to Get Straight As

    Tuesday, December 7, 2021

Do you want to become a straight-A student? We like your ambition! Let's find out what straight-A students do to always achieve that host grade.

Being a straight-A student requires a lot of hard work, discipline and responsibility. Nevertheless, unlike what many people think, the way to becoming a straight-A student isn’t spending sleepless nights cramming as many hours as possible. Not only it isn’t healthy, but it will also do the opposite of enabling you to get straight As.

We're letting you in on the secret: Straight-A students don’t necessarily study longer or harder, but smarter! What does that mean? There are some study methods that are much more effective, simpler, more realistic, and healthier than burning out to achieve your goals.

By no means are we implying that you won’t have to study a lot, but the most important thing is how you study, not how long you study. This means that the goals you achieve are not a result of how much time you spend doing something, but rather the quality of your hard work!

7 Tips to Help You Become a Straight-A Student

    #1. Take care of yourself

Our health should always be our #1 priority. Being healthy, both physically and mentally, fosters productivity and improves our memory! On the other hand, when we don’t take care of our health because we have so much to do, we are less productive, our studying sessions are less effective, and we are more likely to burn out.

Getting enough sleep, eating well, taking a walk once in a while, and taking breaks are all essential, not only to stay healthy, but also to increase our productivity.

    #2. Time management is key

Time management is an essential skill, not only to study, but for everything we do!

Productivity is synonymous to being able to manage your time, as it will enable you to lead a less stressful and more balanced life.

Taking 10 minutes a day to set your goals for the day and schedule a certain amount of time for each specific task you need to get done will enable you to be much more organized and productive.

#3. Always Stay Alert of Important Dates

Having a clear plan will make it easier to stay on top of important dates and deadlines. You can use a calendar, whether a digital or physical calendar, as it will help you keep track of the deadlines, and will also come in handy to schedule your weeks to study!

    #4. Be organized

Organization is essential when it comes to studying smart. This is related to the previous tip, as keeping track of deadlines goes a long way in being organized. Nevertheless, we’d like to add keeping your subjects organized as another essential.

Having a separate folder or notepad for each subject is a must to avoid confusion. Many students use a single notepad divided by subjects but this way it can be easier to mix things up!

    #5. Avoid cramming

It is highly contraindicated to cram. Last minute cramming doesn’t guarantee that you will pass an exam, and it is very likely that you will have forgotten what you’ve studied within a week.

Periodic review is much more effective than cramming! Make sure you review the course materials and your notes from class regularly, which will make it easier for the content to stick with you.

#6. Do away with distractions and find a quiet place

We’ve already established that, in order to get straight As, being organized and focused is key. But this is impossible if our study space is distracting.

Finding a quiet space and time is a must, because you will feel relaxed, as it will make it easier for you to focus. You should have peace and minimal noise and distractions.

Do away with distractions! Dedicate specific blocks of time, away from work and personal commitments such as friends or family, in order to focus on studying and completing schoolwork. We highly recommend that you turn your phone off, or at least your notifications, as it is proven to be the number one distraction.

    #7. Look for help

It’s been proven that studying with others is extremely beneficial and increases the chances of getting top grades. Studying or doing homework with a group helps students stay focused, as they will push you to avoid giving up if you get discouraged.

You are not alone. There are many other people in the same boat as you. You can help each other study, understand difficult concepts, and stay motivated!

These are some of the tips to study smarter, which will in turn help you get top grades if that’s your goal. If you don’t want straight As but want to improve your grades, these tips will help you anyway!
